How do I get rid of spider mites on my plants?

I used to have this problem but don’t anymore. For outside plants I gently hose off the entire plant and try to get the underside of the leaves. Inside plants I put in the shower or sink and use the hand held spray and wash off the leaves. Basically I get the dust off the leaves. I have never had any luck with using soap on plants. I follow the recipes, but I always think that the leaves end up being burned. I also use a systemic granule for pest control. You just sprinkle the correct amount on the dirt around the plant. The plant draws up the pesticide when you normally water the plant. Voila….no bugs. I do this once a month.
