How do I get rid of ants in my house – kitchen sink & cabinets?

orangiebee– I had this problem occasionally at my old house. The ants weren’t there all the time–just ususally when it was wet outside, and they only appeared in the kitchen. I read somewhere that ants don’t like mint and since I didn’t want to use insecticides in the kitchen, thought I’d give it a try. These ants appeared to be coming in between the kitchen cabinet and the wall, so I did a little experiment. I didn’t have any dried mint in the cupboard at the time, but did have peppermint extract. I poured some on a paper towel and wiped the edge of the counter near the wall and then watched the ants. Sure enough, they refused to cross the area where the extract was! Instead, they went around to the area that didn’t have any extract. So, I went out and bought some dried mint and liberally sprinkled it in the crack between the wall and cabinet. I also rubbed the peppermint extract on the counter along the wall, all the way up to the backsplash. The ants went away. Yay!!! I hope this
