How do I get rid of a kind of nutgrass in my lawn?
Manage and Image are two herbicides that control nutgrass in lawns but they are usually not available to home owners. You should contact a professional lawn care company to provide a couple of applications of either product over a season. Several re-applications may be required with this hard to control weed. In some markets Manage is available to homeowners as Sedgehammer. You can also use Round-Up which will kill desireable lawn grasses, too, however. The way you would go about this, would be to dip a paint roller in the product and roll it in the paint pan until it no longer drips. Then walk around the lawn and paint the surface of the nut grass when it is 8-10″ tall and well above the other lawn grasses.
