How do I get my normal aqua blue screen back, without loosing data?

If you are still stuck, here’s where to start: You are stuck in Single User Mode. You need to push the power button and as soon as you do, push the shift button (right after the startup chime. Once you have the desktop back, go to the Utilities Folder (in Applications folder) and open Disk Utility. Highlight the very first item in the list in the left hand column. It will say the brand and size of the hard disk drive. Click on Repair DIsk (not Repair Permissions) and let the utility finish and repair any problems. Try restarting the iBook and see what happens. If all is fine, then you should be all set. If the situation rears its ugly head again, then insert the install DVD or CD and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds or until the iBook shuts down.
