Make sure that the controller is a USB controller. If it is a PS2 controller, you need a PS2 to USB adapter to make it work. If you are using a Wii controller, you need GlovePie. Any Xbox360 or PS3 controller should work right out of the box. Just plug it in and play. Make sure you map out your buttons in the controls though. Most PS2 whammy bars will not work. Drum sets, Microphones and Guitar controllers are supported. Yes, GHWT and GH5 controllers are supported also.
