How do I get my car back after the impoundment or immobilisation period ends?
You will be informed by Victoria Police of the procedure to recover your vehicle. A vehicle may only be recovered after the impoundment or immobilisation period ends and when all designated costs have been paid by the person with an entitlement to the vehicle. This fee may incorporate the cost of moving the vehicle to an impounded zone, and any other costs involved in the impoundment or immobilisation. A person may only recover a vehicle after they have shown evidence of identity and entitlement to that vehicle, through a driver’s licence and car registration certificate. If your impoundment or immobilisation period ends on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, you will have to wait until 9am on the next business day to recover the vehicle.
