How do I get my bankruptcy off of my credit report? It has been over 7 years?

Bankruptcy stays on your report for 10 years, not 7. Sorry you have to wait a few more years.

What type of Bankruptcy was it, if this was a personal bankruptcy it was probably either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. If it was a Chapter 7 it will remain on your credit report for 10 years from the date of filing. Nothing you can do would remove it. If it is a Chapter 13 it technically would also remain for 10 years because it is a Bankruptcy. However, as a general rule of practice since it was a repayment bankruptcy the credit reporting agencies will remove it after 7 years from date filed. The link below is from Equifax, but the other CRA’s follow the same guidelines. Scroll down to the section “How long does negative information stay on my credit report?

If the information is correct you can not legally remove it. Bankruptcy’s show for 10-years from the date of discharge so if it’s a chapter 7 it will show for 10-years but if it’s a chapter 13 it could show for up to 15-years depending on how long your 13 was set up for.
