Do what Sharon has suggested. If that does not work for you move your cursor to the bottom right of your screen where the emoticon is(by the clock) -> right click -> and exit completely -> then click on your icon for messenger (in your start menu or desktop) then double click and sign back in. And see if that helps. If that does not do anything for you then try uninstalling messenger then reinstall and see if that will solve your problem. UNinstall—–Start -> control panel -> add/delete programs -> find messenger at the bottom of list -> click on it -> then remove. REinstall—— Goto your yahoo homepage -> click on messenger -> on the next screen click on the blue link at top right and install. Good Luck!
