As long as you have an internet connection Silver is always free. You have the pay for Gold, the only way to get a free trial is sometimes when you buy a game they give you a free trial period. If you give them your credit card number, they will charge it every year when your Gold expires. It happened to me and they are still doing it to my credit card, I suggest you never give them your credit card number, you’ll have problems with them doing this.
