How do I get a The Home Depot Tax Exempt ID number?
On the Tax Exempt Registration Page (see question 3), click ‘Sign Up’ under the New Tax Organization section to register for a The Home Depot Tax Exempt ID number. We do not suggest that you use your company’s State issued Tax ID number. A good example is to use a number such as your company phone number. Once you have chosen an ID number and complete “Step 1” you cannot change your ID. If it is necessary to change the ID number you will need to go through the registration process again. 5. While creating a The Home Depot Tax Exempt ID Number I receive a prompt stating the number I chose is a “Duplicate”. If you are using your company or organization’s phone number, someone within your company or organization may have already registered. Check with your financial or tax department to verify. If you created the number, someone else might have chosen the same number. Simply choose another.
