A California Resale License is a special permit that is required if anyone is engaging in business activity in the state of California. Individuals need to apply to have an established business selling or leasing tangible property that will require a sales tax, or those individuals who will make temporary sales to customers. Obtain an application either online from the California State Board of Equalization or in person at a California taxpayer field office. Enter in the permit type (either a regular permit or a temporary one) and the type of ownership for the business. If a single person will be running the business and handling all the business transactions, a sole owner type will need to be checked.
