How do I footnote printed and online resources like encyclopedia articles or internet websites in my term paper?
A term paper should include an accurate bibliography of resources consulted. Standardized citation systems exist for general or various subject fields, including the Chicago Manual of Style, Turabian’s A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses and Dissertations, the Modern Language Association Handbook for Writers of Research Papers and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Printed copies of these and other style sheets or citation manuals can be found in the Libraries by checking MERLIN for the appropriate call number (all of the above are available in the Miller Nichols Library’s “Ready Reference” section in the Information Commons). To cite online resources, consult the library guides for MLA and APA available online or in the Information Commons. Some web sources offer hints on citing materials.
