How do I fix the error “Could not open a connection to SQL Server”?
This error is due to a communication failure between ProMax and its database engine. It may simply result from the fact that the database service has stopped running. Restarting a service will require an account that has administrative privileges or a system reboot. To restart a stopped database engine without rebooting, the command net start mssql$bryanres can be entered in the Start->Run dialog or in a command prompt window. The command prompt window is usually preferred because the progress of the start and any associated errors will be visible. Alternatively, the command services.msc can be executed in the Start->Run dialog. This will start a Microsoft Management Console dialog listing the services installed on the system. The service SQL Server (BRYANRES) can be located and started by right clicking on the service name.
