Older models of the Sony Playstation 2 gaming console can experience system malfunctions such as browser screen freezes due to a buildup of dirt, dust and foreign debris inside of the plastic casing. If you possess a deft touch with electronic equipment, you can attempt to open up the system and clean it yourself. Make sure that you remove all games, electrical cords and power cables from the Playstation 2 console. Place the console face down on an unfolded newspaper. Using your Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the eight screws located in the back of the console and put them in a safe place to the side. Lift the plastic casing and carefully set it to the side. Look to the right and notice the disc assembly inside of the system. Using your Phillips head screwdriver, remove each screw holding the plastic cover and put them in a safe place to the side.
