How do I fix instability on a Intel Core 2 Duo Server running the Xen enabled kernel?
The following is a workaround for when instability (system freeze up) is experienced with the Xen kernel on Intel Duo Core processor. You can diagnose if this is the issue before applying the workaround, by doing the following: To diagnose: 1. Launch root Console from Launch > Applications > System > Administrator tools > Console (Administrator) 2. Run dmesg and look for entry that suggests “try “pci=routeirq” 3. Proceed to next if answer to previous step is “yes” Next to apply the workaround, please perform the following: Append pci=routeirq to the existing kernel: 1. Insert the Installation CD 2. Re/start computer and wait for the boot up process 3. Press when prompt 4.
