Don’t buy into the “scratch remover” products offered at auto parts stores. These products are intended to remove clear coat scratches only….meaning the scratch penetrated the clear coat only (very rare) and did not get into the base coat/down to the metal. As far as prepping the area for touch-up paint you need to apply a solvent (rubbing alcohol, thinner, nail polish remover, or if you’re up for spending the cash “paint prep” from an auto parts stores. You need to make sure all wax build-up/grime is removed/any other contanminents are removed prior to applying touch-up paint. Fairly simple repair, get your hands on some solvent to properly prep the area in question, apply touch up paint and call it good. Do not apply any wax coat for at least 10 days. Hope this helps!
