How Do I Find The Hardware On My Laptop?
There are three good reasons why it is beneficial to find out what kind of hardware is installed on your laptop. First, you gain a deeper knowledge of your computer. Second, you are more likely able to predetermine the areas where possible malfunctions could occur. Some devices may conflict with each other and compete for system resources. When this happens, your computer could become unstable and unreliable. Lastly, if you ever need to replace a hardware component on your laptop, you will know exactly what to look for. Click “Start” and then click “Run” or “Start Search” depending on your version of Windows. Type “mmc devmgmt.msc” in the text box. When finished, click “OK.” (Note: Alternately, type “devmgmt.msc” if the command listed does not bring up the Device Manager.) Double-click on the hardware category to see a list of installed software pertaining to that category. Right-click on your desired hardware and then click “Properties” to see the details of it.
