How do I find out if California will suspend the license of a Deadbeat Dad?
It’s been awhile since I had to deal with this, but I believe that any state’s Title IV-D agency has the authority to suspend the license of a resident, non-custodial parent with an arrearage of $5000.00 or more. They can also suspend passports, place leins on assets, and place income deduction orders. Under Title IV-D, the agency collects a small fee (used to be $25) from the custodial parent receiving support, and handles all aspects of enforcement and collection from then on. The home state agency will then make the arrangements with the other state for enforcement and collection.
