How do I find a replacement hard drive for a 10 year old laptop?
We have repaired 10 year old laptops with bad hard drives for customers whom simply refuse to give up on an old friend. Only after I tell them it is cost effective to buy a new computer rather than sink money into a ten year old computer, do we go to work. Most older laptops can handle a new 80gb ide hard drive. Installing anything other than XP isn’t an option. Of course maxing out the ram is helpful but there is always a chance the laptop will be slower with the new operating system. We know a bunch of tweaks that speed things along as well as recovering data from the old hard drive. For the most part customers are happy to have a old friend back.
