You would have to be a direct male line descendant to be entitled to a coat of arms. They don’t belong to families. When a coat of arms was granted in England, all sons obtained one with some differences. Only the oldest son was entitled to his father’s coat of arms upon his father’s death. The same is pretty much true of Scottish arms. So if you are the oldest son of your father and he was the oldest son of his father and so on back down the line to the gentleman that was granted the arms, then you can say it is yours but you need to send your family tree to the College of Arms in London or to the Lord Lyon of Arms in Scotland. It depends on which heraldry authority issued the arms. If you are not in the oldest son line, you can still send your family tree to the College of Arms or the Lord Lyon of Scotland and they might grant you a coat of arms, but it won’t be one just like you have in the picture.
