Since the number of data types registered in MIRIAM Resources is continuously increasing, it can become difficult to find a suitable data type to annotate a particular kind of entity, for instance ‘protein’. In addition, there may be a substantial number of suitable data types with which one could generate a MIRIAM URI. To address these issues, we have introduced a tagging system in MIRIAM Resources; each of the registered data types in MIRIAM Resources is associated with one or more tags, each of which indicate the kind of data which is suitable to annotate with that particular data type. For instance, the Uniprot data type is tagged with ‘protein’ and ‘sequence’. The tags associated with a particular data type are listed under the ‘tags’ tab on the main entry’s information page.
