How do I filter to avoid hearing unwanted characters?
Have you tried using the character filters in VIP ? This feature was put in VIP specifically to keep characters from being spoken that you don’t want to hear. See pages 112-113 of the version 2.5 manual. (Text Follows…) Here is what is on Pages 112-113 of the version 2.5 manual regarding Character Filters: When reading, you will sometimes hear punctuation or other characters being read that you don’t want to hear (such as quotation marks, parentheses, etc.). If you wish, you can turn on a “filter” to remove those characters before they are spoken. Changing this setting will require the assistance of a sighted person or the use of screen-reading software. To turn on the speech character filter press F5 from the Home screen to go to the Advanced Setup screen. Click on the tab labeled “Speed Configuration” (see Figure 70).
