First, you need the square footage of your room….14′ x 14′ would be 196 square feet. Since carpeting is typically sold in square yard, you would convert that to square yards. I use a conversion calculator. According to that, 196 square feet would be 21.77 square yards. If you plan on installing it yourself, don’t forget that you may also need to purchase the padding as well. If you want to get as much life as possible out of your new carpet, you may want to pay a pro to install it. Good luck.
