How do I figure out the comport number for “USB box” ports?
The COM port assignments for the USB box are located under “Ports” in the device manager. For Windows 2000 the device manageris locatedunderSettings->ControlPanel->System->Hardware->Device Manager. The COM number is given for each USB serial device listed. To determine which port on the USB box is assigned to a particular COM, right click the COM port of interest and select properties. The “location” parameter will tell you the corresponding USB port number. Note: These settings will typically remain unchanged for a particular USB box.
