How do I figure out just how old my Sewhandy is?
Generally, Sewhandy sewing machines with a Standard or Sewhandy (or both) decal on the neck and without a Des. Pat. 80185 decal on the bed right hand corner were made between early 1928 and mid 1929. Sewhandy sewing machines with Standard Sewhandy decal on the neck and with a Des. Pat. 80185 decal on the bed right hand corner were made between late 1929 and early 1932. However, if your Sewhandy has the “Manufactured by The Osann Corporation -successors” decal on the bed center front edge, then it was actually produced by SINGER between mid 1934 and late 1938. GENERAL ELECTRIC MODEL A (GE label Sewhandy) machines were marketed from mid 1931 thru about 1936.
