How do I equate study abroad credits to OU courses?
Credits from study abroad are first evaluated by the OU Office of Admissions to determine how many specific credits can be transferred. Then the appropriate academic department into which the credits will be equated will be consulted to see what course it will specifically become. For example, the OU department of chemistry will be consulted on chemistry courses from study abroad, whether the student is or is not a chemistry major or minor. If the department feels that the content of a study abroad course approximates the content of a specific course at OU, then the course will be equated. If the study abroad course cannot be equated to an OU class, then the course will still be transferred to the student’s transcript as an elective. There may or may not be sufficient information to have your courses equated before departure.
