How do I encourage my 2 year old to wean from breastfeeding?
I have a nursing 2 yo. I do not plan on weaning her yet, but had some luck getting annoying nursing habits put to rest. First I explained that she can nurse for x number of minutes on each side. Then, when time is up, I tell her that “mama” (what my daughter calls my breasts) is tired and needs to rest but that we can snuggle together. I let her know that she can have “mama” again soon…but not until the sun comes up or its time for bed, etc. Maybe you could SLOWLY take the minutes per side down until you are just cuddling to sleep. Sometimes, my daughter wants to snuggle to sleep instead of nurse, so this might help. 🙂 Good idea to start weaning now so you have time to do it gradually and with love. 🙂 Good Luck.
