How Do I Dye My Very Dark Blue Jeans Black?
There’s no need to bleach or remove the color when going from dark blue to black. Buy whatever brand dye is available to you and follow the instructions on the package. When dyeing something black, I usually use more dye than needed to make sure it gets really black (not gray). For 1 pair of jeans, I would use 2 packages of dye. Over time everything black seems to fade. But if you wash the garment in cold water and avoid using a hot clothes dryer, the color will last a lot longer. As I said, the instructions will be on the package of dye. There are 2 dyeing methods, one is the washing machine method, the other is the bucket method. I prefer using a bucket because I don’t want to have to clean the washing machine (2 cycles with hot water and bleach). The bucket method works good, make sure you use hot water to mix the dye.
