You can talk to the police and in some cases get an addendum made to the report. The good news is that the insurance companies will do an independent investigation. I have, on occasion come to a different conclusion than the police and have won those cases in arbitration. The police are there in the confusion of the moment and are looking at the criminal issues. The insurance companies have more time and are looking at civil liability. Just make clear to both insurance companies what actually happened, and don’t panic.
