How do I dispose of unwanted gasses and cryogenic fluids (e.g. Liquid Nitrogen) ?
Approach the original supplier for specialist gasses (and remember that the cylinder often still belongs to the supplier). Liquid nitrogen can also be disposed of by tipping (small quantities) onto a suitable gravel area under controlled conditions. Access to this area must be prevented until all the nitrogen has evaporated and there is no longer a risk of cold burn. Further advice is available from the University Safety Office.
