How do I dispose of CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs- the curly ones)?
These items can be taken to Home Depot or Ikea; both companies accept used CFLs. They should not be thrown in the garbage as they contain a small amount of mercury which will contaminate the landfill. They can also be taken to the Essex County Household Hazardous Waste collection events in the spring and fall (see www.ecuanj.com for event dates and directions).
