In Microsoft Windows XP, click Start -> Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, click on System. Next, choose the System Restore tab. Check the Disable System Restore checkbox. When prompted, click Yes. Then, click OK. In Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7, click Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> System -> System Protection. Next, uncheck any checked boxes in this window. When prompted, click Yes or Turn Off System Restore. Then, click OK.
