The public expects criminal justice employees to be decent, law-abiding citizens who believe in upholding the laws of our country. The public generally looks up to a wide array of law officers, attorneys and court administrators. The public also expect these public officials to be above reproach. Each group of criminal justice workers has a comprehensive code of ethics geared to their area of expertise. They learn the code of ethics in law school and during training. However, a means is needed to monitor, judge and regulate the behavior of the members of each group. Create a hard-copy manual which clearly states the appropriate behavior of each member of the specific group. Someone may have already drafted basic rules, regulations and guidelines.
