How do i deter my 3 month old puppy from eating stones, rocks and pebbles?
The problem is that you’re giving him attention for eating rocks, and that’s what he wants. So he’s doing it more. If you don’t make such a fuss of him when he does it, he’ll have a lot less fun, and he’ll soon lose interest in doing it. When he does it, just say “Drop”. Stand above, don’t make eye contact, stay perfectly still. When he drops it, reward him with a pat and a “Good dog!” He will soon learn to associate rewards with obedience. He won’t like you ignoring him, and he’ll learn to associate picking up rocks with your disapproval. Good luck!
