How do I delete permanently indexed files in Windows Vista?
Finding the Right SoftwareDownload a program that clears the Windows Vista index. Privacy Mantra is a free program that works well with Windows Vista. Download Privacy Mantra (see the Resource section for a link) and double-click on the downloaded installation file to begin the installation process. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard to completely install Privacy Mantra or whatever other program you chose on your computer.Running the ProgramOpen Privacy Mantra by clicking on “Start” and then “All Programs.” Click on the folder for Privacy Mantra and then the program’s icon to open it. Look at the left side of the screen and click on the “Manual” link. Check the boxes next to “Deletion of index.dat” and “Temporary Internet Files” before clicking on the “Clean” button. Wait for Privacy Mantra to finish deleting the index files. Click “Yes” to restart the computer when it is done. A dialog box that lets you know the process completed successfully.
