Typically you will want to group all heads of the same type or same water demand together. If you are mixing sprinkler types, group by type. If you have wet or dry spots, group accordingly. If your lawn is pretty uniformly green/brown and using all the same sprinkler type, then group by spray arc. The different arcs, like 1/4 circle, 1/2 circle and full circle, typically have different flow rates and you will find that you can adjust your run times for the different arcs to save water.
