How do I create more glide in my air hockey table surface?

I would say NO to the wax. It’s an AIR hockey table. The puck is supposed to ride on a cushion of air and I think that wax(thicker wax) may plug up those little holes that the air comes out of. Check the fan that blows the air. Maybe it’s not running as good as it used too or it’s partially blocked. Also, I seem to remember pucks that were in rough shape didn’t seem to glide as well and sometimes one side worked better than the other.
