In Moodle 1.9.5 onwards, a new unlimited grades setting in Administration > Grades > General settings enables administrators to allow teachers to enter grades over 100% directly in the gradebook. In earlier versions of 1.9, it is possible for a student to get less than the maximum grade in some grade items, while still getting the maximum grade in the category or course total. The Extra Credit feature is used for this purpose, as described above.
