It sounds like you should use the Format Painter. Select the cell that has the Format (color, font, etc.) that you want to copy and then click the Format Painter on your tool bar. (It looks like a little paintbrush.) Then click on the cell that you want to copy the format to. I’m not sure from your question, but it almost sounds like the colored cell may be changing color and the other cell needs to be automatically updated.
