How Do I Copy Outlook Files To Another Computer Via Cd?
The only file you actually need is your PST file. With Outlook closed, copy the PST to a CD using whatever software you have to burn a cd. I prefer using Windows XP’s built-in burning ability (i.e., drag-and-drop to the CD). The PST is usually in a hidden folder whose path is %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. On the other PC, copy the PST from CD and place it in any folder you want (including the default folder), taking care to not overwrite any PST of the same name. After copying, remove the read-only attribute. Start Outlook and click File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse to the PST, select it, and click OK. It will open, showing you all your Outlook items. Then, if you wish, you can make the PST your delivery location with Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Look at the lower left for a drop-down labeled “Deliver new e-mail to the following location”.
