How do I convert rar files?
RAR is an archive format. The most common program for reading/unpacking RAR files is WinRAR. Once you have unpacked the files, you can repack them with a Zip program (such as WinZIP). A common practice for people posting compressed content is to put a Zip file inside a RAR archive. However, I find this kind of a nuisance, and you cannot really compress an already compressed file. You asked about making DVDs playable. I am guessing you mean making DVD movie disks. I have done this before using Roxio CD and DVD Creator Platinum. There is a component called DVD Builder. You just drag-and-drop video files (i.e. MPG, WMV, etc.) to the disk and create a basic menu for playing the files. The program will warn you about the files not being in the standard format (regular DVD videos are 720×480 in size). However, Roxio will still convert them for viewing.
