How do I convert counts per second into Bq/cm2?
A reading in counts per second can be converted to Bq/cm2 by correcting for the counting efficiency of the monitor for that particular radionuclide. The precise value of counting efficiency is specific for a radionuclide, detector and counting arrangement. The Tracerco T201, T401 and T403 Radiation Contamination monitors have been precalibrated with this information. The operator has to simply select the appropriate radionuclide of interest and the digital screen will automatically provide the corresponding value of Bq/cm2.
