How do I construct a boffer weapon?
Suggested Construction Materials: ½” or ¾” diameter PVC of CPVC tube (fiberglass shaft is an alternate) 5/8″ closed cell pipe insulation Open cell foam Duct tape Athletic grip tape Decorations (other tape, gems, etc.) Suggested Tools: Hack saw Scissors Sand paper Knife Thumb tack • Cut the piece of PVC to a length 4″-5″ shorter than the total weapon length desired. ½” tube can be used for weapons of 1-handed size of shorter, ¾” tube for anything longer than that. • Remove any sharp edges from the cuts that were made. Then cover both ends of the tube with a piece of duct tape. • Lay a piece of 5/8″ foam next to the tube to judge the length of the blade/haft or whatever. Remember when cutting the foam to leave space for a grip and pommel (about 8″). Also consider if you want to attach a cross guard. The cut should also leave about ¾” at the tip. • To affix the pipe insulation to the tube, there are three suggested means of doing this. Wrap duct tape around the tube until it is thick enou
