How do I connect to the internet?
Until recently, connecting to the Internet included a phone line, modem and subscription with an Internet Service Provider, such Erols, AT&T, AOL, etc. However, broadband, high-speed internet connectivity via cable (no phone line because connectivity is accomplished via your existing cable line), and DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is slowly replacing dial-up service. If you are using an ISP, cable or DSL, software will be provided to you; once your software is installed and properly configured (phone line required for ISP or DSL), you are ready to connect. You will be provided with a user name and password to enter; once connected, you are ready to browse the web. Some companies are now offering free internet service. In addition, some companies have yearly payment options which save you money.
This is how you would connect to the Internet using XP: 1. Click on the wireless icon in the taskbar, view available wireless connections and select WIFI from the available networks. 2. Launch your browser. A login screen requesting a User Name and password will be displayed. 3. After your user identification has been accepted, your default home page will be displayed.
