How do I connect armored electric cable to a plastic receptacle?

0

I’m trying to clean up a month’s worth of mod’s to the grow room and am stuck on what to do with finishing off the connection where the armored cable that powers the grow taps into a plastic receptacle. The plastic receptacle works quite nicely for running wire through a raceway. The knockouts are oblong (as opposed to circular) and since its all beige plastic it matches the raceway. But I’m not sure if it was really intended to be used with armored cable. All but this part of the circuit is in a plastic raceway. For one of the more remote outlets, the electrician used armored cable, and simply shoved the open end into the smallest oblong knockout and tied it down with a rinky-dink plastic clamp. I copied this scheme to reroute the cable into the grow room. Now, my friends here are telling me I really should finish this with a connector. What should I be looking for? Should I convert this outlet to a metal receptacle and use the appropriate connector, which is easy to identify. If I do
