Some notebook manufacturers ship notebooks with the infrared port ‘disabled’. In the BIOS settings or in the Control Panel / System / Device Manager, there is an option to enable the infrared port. Unless the port is enabled then it will be as if the device did not have an infrared port. Consult your manufacturer’s documentation for the proper procedure.
