• Log in as a local administrator • Look for the “signal strength” icon in the task bar. It will show “no connection”. • Double-click to open the client manager. • Select ” Start > Programs >Something > Client Manager” • The “Something” depends on which variant of wireless software you have installed, i.e.:”Orinoco”,Toshiba Wireless Solution”, “IBM wireless” etc. • Select “Actions” > “Add/Edit configuration profile” • Choose an unused profile, and click “Configure” • Set the NETWORK NAME (or SSID) to be “Strathclyde”. Lower case with capital S. • Turn off encryption. To do this, select the “Encryption” tab, and uncheck the “Enable Data Security” box. • Select OK twice to return to the client manager. The signal strength meter should now be green.
