How do I completely clean Windows off a hard drive?

Insert a Windows installation CD into the computer’s CD or DVD drive. Restart the computer. At the start-up, you will see a message on the screen listing the key that you have to hit to enter the BIOS. Hit the appropriate key. Scroll through the menus and choose Boot Options–this could be in one of several sub-menus, but the menu names differ by each manufacturer. Make the CD drive the first boot option by using the keys listed in the menu to move the CD drive to the top of the list. Restart the computer. Windows will start to install. Click “F8” to agree to the licensing terms and choose to install Windows on your hard drive. After you select the drive, there will be an option to format the drive. Choose the option to format the drive by hitting the key that is listed to start the formatting. Formatting the drive is the only way to completely remove Windows. You can exit the program after formatting.Source:Henry Amon; information systems specialist; Salisbury, Md.
