how do I combat ajuga and other weeds?
Ajuga is quickly overtaking our lawn. Are there any methods that do not involve chemicals that will get rid of this problem? If not, what do you suggest and how efficient is it at ridding us of this very invasive plant? Ajuga is a very aggressive plant that moves wherever it can; and most of the time it’s not where you want it. One approach is to use the following mixture, but be careful around other plants. 1 cup of salt 1 gallon of white vinegar 9 drops of liquid soap Mix the salt and vinegar and heat until the salt dissolves. Cool to room temperature, than add soap. Pour into a spray bottle. Spray onto plants. This recipe works for most weeds—it’s just a matter of keeping up with them. Spray them, wait a few days, and then spray them again, and so on. Some weeds are tough, particularly thistles and dandelions. This works really well on hot, sunny days. Make sure the two or three days following the application of the mixture will be dry. Another option is a propane torch. I know this
