First, be sure that all applications are closed by going to the respective File menus and selecting Exit. A special note for users of MICROSOFT OFFICE Software who may be using the toolbar that appears on the desktop: The toolbar application runs in the background and does not always appear to be active. Make sure that you exit this launcher tool as well. There are other applications that behave similarly to this toolbar, for example, video display tools, screen-savers, and others. These typically have icons that appear in the WINDOWS 95 Start bar or other desktop location which are not always thought of as active applications. In WINDOWS Software v3.1x, you can identify them by using the ALT-TAB command sequence (see your WINDOWS Software documentation for details). These programs can be corrupted during the installation process if you do not exit them first. If they do interfere with installation, you most likely will need to re-install them from the original diskettes.
